“The more you know, the more you realize you know nothing.— Socrates
As I have been taking courses and continually learning, I have picked up the basics of some technologies. As I add skills to my tool belt I'm beginning to see how they all work together and can be used to create value and security for businesses. I'm excited to get into the IT field and start working with computers, networks, security, and other professionals.
Technology amazes and scares me. Not scared as in its going to take over the world (although it might in like 200 years), the sheer complexity and pace of it scares me a little bit. I am 23 years old born in 2001. In 2001 Apple came out with the Ipod, Windows came out with Windows XP, and Wikipedia made its debut on the internet.
Fast forward to 2024. We've got the iphone 14, Windows 11, and Wikipidia is being used to train LLMs to help you write papers. It might be scary but it is exciting and I want to be a part of the journey and experience all the great things that we can create with technology.
As I have been going through the Google IT Support Specialist course. I have been working on labs using Quiklabs which provides VM's to work with different OS's and software. The labs covered topics like working with file systems, different operating systems, virtual machines, Active Directory, Microsoft management console, git, Chef, prometheus, ruby, SQL and more. These labs have given me a basic understanding and exposure to different technologies that I hope to work with in the future and learn further. I have enjoyed working with ruby and powershell to write scripts and automate tasks. I have a repository on git hub of the scripts I have created. It's nothing too complex but check it out!
